I thought there had previously been a setting for determining time signature size by number of vertical spaces but I can’t find it now.
I’m also trying to adjust not only the overall size but the width, as well as the horizontal spacing between double digit numbers.
I’m not finding any of these controls.
What kind of time signature are you trying to create?
You can pick a basic style in Layout Options; you can adjust the font size in Font Styles; and you can adjust other options in Engraving Options. I don’t believe you can change the horizontal spacing between numbers.
Thanks. I just want to make my own sans serif font that’s more to my liking than Bravura. In Sibelius I used Avenir Condensed and made it narrower, and made the letter spacing tighter.
In Layout Options, set this option:
Even though the image shows a big centered time sig, all you’re really doing here is telling Dorico to use the Time Signature Plain Font font style, which can be any font you want.
Dev team: In the explanatory text for this option, I think it would be helpful if Time Signature Font and Time Signature Plain Font were capitalized that way – both for readability and because that’s how the font styles appear in the Font Styles dialog.
Thanks. I know about that, but the font I want does not display like I’d prefer. I can adjust the overall size, but I can’t adjust the width of the numbers or the horizontal spacing between two-digit numbers (e.g., 12, 16). I can make these adjustments in Sibelius but this appears to be an inflexible area for Dorico at this point.
Dorico allows for these in paragraph styles, but not in font styles, which is what time signatures use.
See this post for a little context.
