Is v2 more stable than v3 for audio and video playback?

I have a big show in front of 4000 people in 3 weeks and right now I don’t trust v3 to run stable for 65 minutes.

I feel like a lot has been fixed. And version 3 works better. In any case, to avoid problems, you need to do a full rehearsal with the entire program and check it. The best method

I’ve been rehearsing with different iterations of v3 for 4 weeks now and none of them work without errors. The newer the version the more bugs it has …

I can’t say anything. I only had crashes due to the video engine

What are your problems?

Mainly inconsistent behavior or glitches in audio or video. Cracks, pops, sound-drop outs at edit points. Video window closing randomly or showing up on a different screen etc. - stuff like that.

Of course most of these are not reproducible, but I don’t have them on either Ableton 12 or Cubase 15.

You know about “Devices/Video Views”? Also some settings are saved with the project.

What do you mean by “edit points” here?

We compared (are are beeing compared) to Cubase many times, for regular use there should be no difference. Of course it depends on the complexity of the project, and mostly plugins. Also, are you using the latest version?

Finally, we made some improvements with the next version reg. video and FlexLoops, give it a try.

Yes, I know about Devices/Video views. Still it:

sometimes opens in full-screen view
sometimes in smaller window size
sometimes in full screen view with header bar
sometimes in full screen view without header bar

90% of the time it does what it’s supposed to. 10% it doesn’t. I am not gonna try that in front of an audience …

By “edit points” I mean points where I edited audio or video. Like in this screenshot where the playhead is.

Btw, the fact that I can’t have audio cuts on one single track without audio dropouts (yes, I moved the fade handles) drives me nuts.

I am not using the latest version because it doesn’t play audio properly on any of my 3 computers due to the sample rate issue that has been discussed in other posts. I’ve installed everything up to 3.0.24, but always have to revert back to 3.0.19 to at least get audio/video playback.

No offense, Charlie, I am a lifelong Cubase user (since 1996) and think it’s the best DAW out there - but at this point I would call almost everything about VST Live a pretty terrible experience.

Again: on the same machines Cubase and Ableton have no audio problems or dropouts etc.

None taken

We had fixed the “edit point” issue already. Sample rate conversion is fixed with the next version (tomorrow, we hope) so give it a try. We had also already changed how the video views remember their opening states, that will probably fix your issue with that as well (otherwise keep nagging). Note that video view settings will get lost if the program doesn’t close properly.

That should cover your issues, right? If not, feel free to keep reporting.
