Issue: Delete key deletes insert plugin

So I just went from N12 to N14.
Can the below be changed through a setting somewhere?? Otherwise it’s quite insane…

Try this in Nuendo 14:

  • Create an audio track
  • Add a plugin as an insert
  • Focus the plugin window by clicking on it
  • Press the delete key
Result: The insert plugin is removed from the track.

This makes it extremely easy to delete a plugin by mistake, and I can see absolutely no use for it. This does not happen in N12.

Confirmed. And agreed; this is NOT a good feature. It shouldn’t be this easy to remove an insert plugin!

Thanks for confirming! I believe this is a bug tbh. I found that the removal won’t happen if you click on the audio track (or elsewhere in the arrange window) once after adding the insert, then click the plugin window again and press delete.

However, it WILL get removed if you click on the insert slot again and then press delete. It’s still totally annoying, since there’s no indication that you’ve actually clicked/selected the insert. The possibility to remove an insert with the delete button shouldn’t be there at all imo since it’s too easy to make a mistake. At the very least there should be a way to disable that key binding.

TBH, the delete button deletes what is selected. If you select something else, it deletes something else.
And it didn’t change from 13 to 14.

I’m afraid you’re missing the point. This bug will occur whenever you have added an insert, then focus the plugin window. Somehow the insert slot is still “selected” in the mixer so the insert will be deleted if you press the delete key, even if something is selected in the arrange view.

Not seeing that here. Selecting an event and pressing the delete key deletes the event.

AFAIK the current delete key functionality for plugins is the intended behaviour and therefore not a bug. The delete function with regard to plugin focus is the same in the Mixer in N12. In N14, this behaviour is extended to the Project window / Inspector.

Thanks for checking!

And what happens if you do this?

  • Select an event on an audio track that has an insert on it.
  • Click the “e” symbol on the insert - in the track inspector or channel view in the project window (not in the mixer).
  • Press Delete

In my case this deletes the plugin 100% of the time, and will not delete the selected event.

Even though this might be intended behaviour, it’s still pretty confusing since the event is still selected and there is no indication that the insert has been selected.
