Issue with modulation wheel when recording dynamics

Hello everybody,
I’m a new Cubase user and I’m having some troubles using the mod wheel on my Komplete Kontrol A61 midi controller. Everything seems to be working fine, if I play an instrument I can hear its effects and using the MIDI monitor in Cubase I can confirm MIDI values are correctly sent on CC1 and received by the DAW as expected. However, once I record any track, during playback I get totally inconsistent results, the instrument volumes randomly jumps up and down and often bounce back to 0 when it should be 127. At the same time, in the editor (below the piano roll), I can see the recorded value is correct (127 in the example above) and the melody is not consistent with the curves shown. The modulation control is then totally unusable.

I get the same result with any instrument library plugin, I also tried the same in Ableton Live and everything works as expected. I get this issue in Cubase only, so the problem is not in the controller, in the library or in any driver.

I tried to take a look to MIDI filters and everything seems just fine, I don’t really know what could be the cause of this behaviour.
Does anybody have any suggestion, or did you experienced the same issue?

Thanks in advance for your replies.
Fabio

Make sure to run the latest version of your Cubase.
Also set the mode of created events to “step” rahter than “ramps”:

It can be done at the bottom of the Key Editor. Click the little arrow down icon next to the plus icon to bring up this menu.

Hi Johnny, thank you for your suggestions.
The Cubase version I’m using is 14.0.10 build 144 (x64) on Windows 11 23H2, I downloaded it last week so it should be the most updated one.
I modified the event mode to “step” as suggested, but the issue is still there.

Hi, just a quick follow-up.
I updated my OS to release 24H2, everything seems ok now. The issue was probably caused by a non-full compatibility with Windows version 23H2, even if the system requirements shown in the Cubase’s info state it is.
Thanks for your help!
