Issues with Dorico 5 Upgrade from Dorico 3.5 Edu (grace period eligible), and more weird problem

I purchased Dorico Pro 3.5 Edu edition back in October, 2021. I want to upgrade it to Dorico 5 today so I purchased the “Dorico Pro 5 Update from Dorico Pro 1 / 2 / 3 / 3.5” from Steinberg and after using the access code, the Dorico 3.5 Edu license (Grace Period Eligible) was crossed out so I cannot upgrade to Dorico Pro 5.

Now after doing a bit of research on the forum I think I discovered that with (grace period eligible), I should look into upgrade my original Dorico license to Dorico Pro 4 for free before upgrading to Dorico Pro 5, and refund my purchase of Dorico Pro 5 upgrade from 3.5 and older. Afterward, I fiddled around with eLicenser Control center with the maintenance function, as well as the grace period check in the activation center. Nothing noticeable showed up when I did those two things but nonetheless I received an email from Steinberg with the title “Your Dorico Pro 4 Grace Period Activation”. I thought it was cool so I input the download access code in the email into the download assistant but here comes the weird part, the code shows it was Dorico Pro 5 grace period rather than for Dorico Pro 4. So now I have two copies of Dorico Pro 5 Verification Pending in my activation center, one from my purchase and one from the “Dorico Pro 4 Grace Period” email.

I am going to refund my dorico pro 5 upgrade purchase first on FastSpring but I am still unable to upgrade my dorico from 3.5 to 4 naturally because I think I got sent the wrong code in the email. Have anyone encountered this issue before? And if anyone from Steinberg can help sort out my issue on my account I will greatly appreciate it!

It’s the middle of the night in London. I’m sure you’ll get some help here as soon as possible.
Welcome to the forum!

Welcome to the forum, @Tony_Zheng. Sorry that you’ve had this problem!

Provided you still have access to the computer on which you have Dorico Pro 3.5 installed, or the USB-eLicenser if you were previously using a hardware key rather than a software key, you should be OK. All you need to do is run eLicenser Control Center on the computer where the license is located (or where the USB-eLicenser is plugged in) and enter the grace period activation code (which I will send to you via private message to avoid posting it here).

That should then mark your Dorico 3.5 license as upgraded to Steinberg Licensing, and mark one of the two Dorico Pro 5 licenses in your account as verified.
