Issues with MusicXML export

I’m having some problems with MusicXML files that I’m exporting from Dorico. If I create a fresh Dorico file, write some music, and export as MusicXML, everything is fine. If I take a file that has been sent to me as MusicXML, import it, make some changes, then try to export it as MusicXML again, there are two problems. Firstly, it won’t export as compressed, only as uncompressed (it gives me the option to do both, but exporting as compressed doesn’t generate any file, or any error message). Secondly, the exported MusicXML is malformed - it fails validation against the MusicXML schema, with multiple errors.
I’ve attached a ZIP file containing two XML files - the “Lowlands away” file is the one that has errors.
Is there a process I can follow to ensure the MusicXML export is correct, wherever the file originated? I’m editing files that have been created by others in a variety of other software (Sibelius, MuseScore), and I need to provide MusicXML output (ideally compressed), as it is for the RNIB, who are using this MusicXML to generate braille and other forms of notation for visually-impaired users. (They have a set of guidelines to follow, the DAISY guidelines, which helps to ensure MusicXML files will be successfully processed by their software).

The MusicXML syntax errors in the exported file are unfortunately the result of a bug in our export of lyrics with extender lines. We know what the problem is but I’m not sure when we will be able to release a fix.

However, I can’t reproduce the problem with exporting compressed MusicXML files. Is it possible that the compressed files are simply being exported somewhere unexpected on your hard disk? Could you attach a file that demonstrates the problem for you, i.e. one that you cannot export as compressed MusicXML when you open it?

I too cannot create a compressed mxl from the Lowlands Away file that @TimAllenMusic posted above, but can for other files.

EDIT: If I create a new file that also contains the lyric export bug problem, I cannot create a compressed mxl.

Ah, I see what you mean now. I think this is another symptom of the same underlying problem - I think it’s failing to export compressed MusicXML for the layouts where the lyric problem occurs.

Thanks for confirming the bug, and the timescale for a fix (i.e., uncertain). I’ll look out for the release notes in future versions to see when it’s resolved. In the meantime, I’ll have to look for other solutions in order to complete the work for the RNIB.
