Issues with the cubase audio performance meters in v11/v12

Same project.
Cubase 11 Pro no problem.
Cubase 12 Pro the peak meter is acting strange. It almost instantly and constantly most of the time if that makes sense hit the ceiling and the red thing goes … red! BUT mostly they projects run smoothly. On a handful of occasions there has been a very strange kind of pulsing drop outs and the pulse length and width are not consistent from occurrence to occurrence, but within each occurrence it’s not random but a steady pulse of dropouts, is the best way to describe it. I have to reastart the computer to get rid of it but sometimes it’s enough to restart Cubase 12. Yet again Cubase 11 no problem??? Any ideas?

[solved]
It appears to be user error … :flushed:

I’m having exactly the same issue these days. I don’t remember when this problem started. I’m on the Windows machine(Win 10) and disabled the E-Core(my CPU is 13th gen i7) as well as disabled the C-state, changed the power schema, re-install the C12, used LatencyMon to check, and and and so on but no luck. I almost gave up using Cubase but still finding other solutions… by the way, I also use Reason and Reaper, these are running perfectly smooth on the same machine but only Cubase 12 has a problem. Actually, C11 has also the same issue sometimes but much less than C12.
Also, I have 2 graphics cards which are Nvidia RTX3060ti and Radeon RX6600XT. I tried changing the card and driver but still no luck.

There was a change to the meters, they act way faster in C12 compared to C11. According to the devs on C11 it was an averaged meter, while on C12 it jumps faster up and down because it is a real time meter (by reading the description of the meter it also seems obvious).

I think the change to the Performance Meter was even mentioned in the 12.0 release notes.

Yeah, that seems pretty much to be the thing! I also happened to have my annual blow the dust out of the box celebration holiday extravaganza just a few days ago. I put the thing back together again in a little hap hazard way, especially all the USB cables, and … everything was NOT good, until I corrected that. No comments! :flushed:
Now everything is back to normal and the description of the “new” meter in C12 makes total sense. So it’s basically a non issue, which happens … we’re only human, right.

So don’t goof around with the USB cables at home, kids!!!

Thanks to everybody involved! :sunglasses:
