Is it advisable to completely uninstall the beta edition first.? Or will the official v1.0 release install fine over the top (and keep all settings/configurations intact etc…).?

It shouldn’t really make a difference. The preferences are read in the same way as before and we didn’t change anything major when it comes to cached configurations.
You can also just use the auto-update functionality to reach 1.0
