IXO12 "direct monitoring" ... not "ASIO 2.0 direct monitoring"?

So the Steinberg IXO12 audio interface supports “direct monitoring” - but it does not support “ASIO 2.0 direct monitoring” - is that correct?

The Steinberg documentation at this website:

says that the IXO series interfaces support ASIO standards.

However, the documentation on Cubase 14 Elements says:

And the current Steinberg driver (v2.1.8) that I have installed does not allow me to select Direct Monitoring. That option is greyed out.

What am I missing?

A am guessing it is because you do not have the correct driver selected.

Is there a different or better driver than the current Steinberg driver v2.1.8?

But you didn’t select it in Cubase!

Here are screenshots of all my settings - let me know if you can see that I did not select the Steinberg driver.

Of course, I cannot select the “Direct Monitoring” check box. The reason for this I think is - and this is my question - the IXO12 does not support ASIO 2.0. And because the Steinberg driver software does not detect a Steinberg audio interface that supports ASIO 2.0 - that check box is not enabled. It’s “greyed out”, meaning it is not selectable.

The Steinberg documentation and product description seems unclear and contradictory to me on whether the IXO12 does - or does not - support ASIO 2.0.

You have the “Steinberg built-in ASIO Driver” selected instead of the dedicated driver for the interface. I’m not sure how much more clear it can be.

It’s a Steinberg audio interface. I’m using the Steinberg driver. The Steinberg driver is the “dedicated driver for the interface”. There is no other driver available for this device.

As others have tried to convince you, there is:

Yamaha Steinberg USB Driver

Studio > Studio Setup… > Audio System

What options do you see in your dropdown list?

I just realized that you had previously posted something similar in the Cubase forum with the same response …

Record only works with ‘Monitor’ and ‘Loopback’ turned on on user interface - Cubase - Steinberg Forums

Anyway … I am going to assume you have figured it out by now. Very rude, however, not to reply to people who are trying to help.
