When I change the key signature in a flow, the notes stay at their original pitches. This is a desirable behavior, but it is equally desirable to have the pitches adjust automatically along with the key change. Is there an option for this? I’ve been able to select-all and then use the Write → Transpose function, but that seems somewhat tedious, especially when the selection must extend only to the next key change.
If one chooses a selection that actually contains the key designation (or a Signpost for it), then one has the option to transpose both the notes and the key signature.
Otherwise, one must transform them separately.
Calling all gurus: is there, in fact, a mode of selecting that would include everything (or a filtered subset) up to the next occurrence of a key sig?
I’ve never thought about it until reading @Steve_225’s post, but could see it being pretty handy.
Hi Steve, I don’t think there is an option for this, unfortunately.
To make things a tiny bit faster you could try the Shift-I popover (note tools) to help you with the transposition.
The only help I can suggest with this is that when you select a key change, the left/right arrow keys select the previous/next key change. So you can zip around the score and quickly see what the target bar numbers are.
That’s what I figured, thanks. I wonder if it’s worth submitting a f-r for this “selected until…” tied to key flags?
All helpful advice - thanks, especially being able to bounce from one key change to the next (or previous) using the arrow keys. I suppose I’ll have to become proficient at selecting sections of music as the “auto transpose” feature seems to be non-existent. This would be nice to have for not only key changes, but for pasting music as well.
I did discover the System Track as being very useful for selecting sections of music! I see that you can select measures, add measures, delete measures, and set/delete insert mode stop positions.
Here’s the documentation:
That’s the Edit Stop Position. One of my favorite features.
