Dear Cubasis Development Team,
First, I want to express my appreciation for Cubasis 3. As a daily user on an iPad Pro (12.9-inch, 4th generation), I genuinely enjoy the product. However, I’ve encountered several workflow challenges that significantly affect my efficiency, and I believe addressing these basic but essential improvements would make a massive difference for many users like me.
Here’s my current experience when editing audio after recording, specifically around selecting and moving clips:
- Selecting Audio Files:
• Touch the select button (top left corner).
• Zoom out for an overview.
• Drag a selection square.
• Zoom back in to refine the selection because it’s imprecise.
• Apply the necessary operation.
• Deselect by finding an empty space and tapping it.
This process, when repeated for hours, becomes cumbersome and inefficient on a touch interface. Now, imagine if these improvements were implemented:
• Selection Tool Shortcut: A simple keyboard shortcut for the “selection” tool would streamline the process massively. It would allow users to instantly access the tool without navigating through touch menus repeatedly.
• Deselect Shortcut: A dedicated button or the ability to deselect by simply re-pressing the selection button would eliminate the frustrating process of finding empty space to clear selections.
• Select All to One Side (Left/Right) of a Track: This would allow users to quickly grab everything in one direction, saving time when adjusting or moving sections around—without needing to constantly zoom in and out for precision.
• Lock Clips/Regions: Adding a locking feature to prevent accidental movements or edits would provide peace of mind, especially on smaller touchscreens where accidental selections are more common.
These are standard features in most desktop DAWs, but they are even more critical for a mobile device like the iPad, where space is limited and finger-based editing is inherently less precise. As my iPad is my main work device, these changes would not only improve workflow but also reduce frustration and help me—and many others—get back to enjoying the creative process again.
Thank you for considering these suggestions. I hope to see these improvements soon so we can all continue enjoying the incredible potential of Cubasis 3.
Best regards,
Victor Balaguer
