Keyboard input/shortcuts not working in Dorico 6 Pro (Mac) after Stream Deck installation

Hi everyone,

I am experiencing a very frustrating issue where keyboard input and most shortcuts are completely unresponsive in Dorico 6 Pro (macOS), even after a clean re-installation.

[The Problem]

  • Note input (A, B, C…) does not work.

  • Standard shortcuts (J, Shift+I, etc.) do not work.

  • Crucially: Command + Z (Undo) does not work.

  • However: Option key still shows the grid overlay, and Command + Q brings up the “Save changes” dialog, so the OS recognizes the keyboard.

[Background] This issue started immediately after I installed Elgato Stream Deck and its Dorico plugin. I have since unplugged the Stream Deck, but the problem persists.

[What I’ve already tried]

  1. Reinstalled Dorico 6 after deleting the application.

  2. Reset Preferences: Renamed Key Commands.xml and UserPreferences.xml to let Dorico regenerate them.

  3. Input Source: Confirmed the macOS input source is set to “ABC” (English).

  4. Audio Engine: Force-quit VST Audio Engine in Activity Monitor and restarted.

  5. Logic Pro Test: Keyboard works perfectly in Logic Pro, so it’s specific to Dorico.

  6. Accessibility: Checked System Settings > Privacy & Security > Input Monitoring (Toggled Dorico 6 off and on).

It seems like Dorico has lost “input focus” or some background driver from the Stream Deck is intercepting the key strokes before they reach Dorico’s note-input layer.

Does anyone have a solution for resetting the input focus or TCC permissions specifically for Dorico? Any help would be greatly appreciated as I cannot do any engraving work at the moment.

System Info:

  • macOS (latest)
