Are there any plans to add a MIDI Remote for the Launchpad Pro MK3, or any Launchpad devices?
Novation made the scripts for the Launchkeys, not Steinberg…
Thanks, I’ll ask there. But more generally I’m looking to implement a launchpad with Cubase, it seems at present there is minimal integration.
What use would the launchpad really have as a MIDI remote though?
MIDI Remote is designed for mixer/instrument control. The Launchpad is literally a big bank of on/off buttons where the MIDI remote is concerned. You could do 64 mutes/solos/arm tracks, toggle stuff on/off, but it wouldn’t be much more useful than that. I don’t know how you would adjust a fader or pan or a filter cutoff with those pads.
Making your own remote mappings isn’t tough. Just open the editor, click a pad and add the function you want the pad to do.
I’m not sure why you are replying because it is clear that you are unfamiliar with the Launchpad Pro MK3 and its extended functionality.
If anyone with actual experience or knowledge with the LPP MK3 has information, I would be very happy to hear from you.
Hi ATC,
As mentioned above, you can create your own script without coding on Cubase 13 with MIDI Remote Control functionality.
Did you try it ?
Also which controls do you want to manage with LaunchPad Pro MK3 ?
Regards.
Hi did you get anywhere with this? I have the LP Mini MK3 which I have just dug out of a cupboard. I just purchased the CS12 which I and others are having some many issues with I decided to grab my unused LP and assign the commands I wanted to assign to the CS12. The PL is very easy to setup and create midi remote scripts but I find remembering the commands on the buttons difficult. I am thinking of clear sticks which can be printed on and then stuck to the buttons. Probably then have to spray with a coat of clear pjs to preserve. In anycase do you have any scripts you would care to share? One thing that confuses me about the LP is the side buttons. Are they usable at all as they don’t show up in midi remote.
Hi, in the end I sold my Launchpad. Love the functionality, I think it’s a really cool device, but I just don’t use it in my workflow. As such I have no scripts to share, sorry. I use a Novation SL Mk3 with an excellent custom script from a user on this forum.
I imagine launchpads in a couple of generations will have mini-screens behind the buttons, not unlike a StreamDeck?
But the other thing I came to realise is that the best controller for Cubase is (sorry to say it) a keyboard and mouse… dedicating a small amount of time to learning and creating keyboard shortcuts has been a huge help. Each to their own.
As for the side buttons, I can’t see anything in the Launchpad manual - best to ask on a Novation forum.
Hi, no probs. Ive actually created an 8 page midi remote now to complement the CS12. Put some clear labels on and works a treat.
I mean, yeah, that’s cool, but personally I just think it’s a bit much.
For example, you have a whole row dedicated to Markers 1-8, when I can just hit “Shift + 1”, “Shift + 2”…etc., or use “N” and “B” to toggle next/last marker. Every button on that has a shortcut, and many of those buttons would be rarely used. Again, each to their own, therein lies some of the beauty of Cubase.
You dont even need to waste the effort holding shift. Use the 10-key and numbers 1-9 go right to your markers, while the rest of it pretty much controls the transport (including record enable).
Need to set a marker? CMD (or CTRL)+ the number on the 10 key.
What can i say, i’m a sucker for buttons n lights
