It’s that time of the year again… when Steinberg goes quiet and the community starts reading between the lines.
Cubase 14 was a massive update — new UI touches, workflow refinements, tons of under-the-hood changes.
So maybe this time we’re not getting something quite as big… or maybe we’ll see Steinberg pivot toward the AI wave everyone’s riding right now.
Audio-to-MIDI, AI-assisted mixing, smarter comping — who knows?
Part of me feels like they’ve been cooking something quietly, especially with how much attention “AI in production” has been getting lately.
What do you think — are we about to see Cubase 15 soon?
And if so, do you expect another huge leap, or a more refined, AI-flavored update this time around?
I just want Cubase to be stable, not to crash when loading a plugin or browsing samples. Stability is all I’m asking for, and if I have to pay for it, that’s fine. I don’t want new features, just stability.
Exactly. I think Steinberg has given a very generous amount of attention already to the one button finger drummers and sample users. I hope it is time to focus their attention on people who want stability so they can properly record and produce the craft they’ve been working to perfect for years, and most probably decades.
Stability should be priority #1 for sure, but one last thing they should add for the group of people you mentioned is a “Groove Pool” like Ableton. Cubase’s “Extract Groove” function leaves much to be desired, especially in terms of organization. The quantization menu they’re stored in gets messy quick.
with the features Cubase already has, it’s more than enough to do practically anything the only issue is stability. But well, I understand that takes time.
They’ve had multiple years to deal with stability. Even one year dedicating part-time 20 hours a week equals 1,040 hours to the most important aspect of a “professional” DAW should be plenty. Especially if you have a team working on it.
Stability and performance was lacking in 13 and 14 so I would like them to address those issues in 15 over gimmicks . 14 had some good improvements though like the modulators and drum machine
Wow seems like a lot of you guys are having issues with stability. I haven’t had any problems running cubase on my m1 mac studio. Also, all my plugins are original and updated. This can also influence the stability of the system. But yes, if a los of you are having trouble getting cubase to work stable, I guess this should be priority number 1 at this point. Maybe we need a re-write from the ground up!
It’s all what I dream about but instead we will get some features like clip launcher, that people have in their other DAWs already but for some reason they need to have it in Cubase too.
