Licence Dorico iPad + Mac

Hello

Too bad to have to go back to the checkout to unlock all the functions of Dorico iPad when we already have a (pretty expensive) license for the pro version on Mac

Steinberg: thank you for changing that ?

Welcome to the Forum.

The license on Mac/Windows and iPad was always separate. A product in the Apple store is charged separately.

It did not change, it was always separate.

I think @Yann_Sevin is saying that he would be grateful if we changed that.

It’s complicated, because our licensing is perpetual on the desktop version, and we are in full control of how and when new updates are available, what they should cost, and so on. On the iPad, of course we can choose what to release and when, but Apple doesn’t provide any kind of mechanism for updates or upgrades within the product, so we would somehow need to be able to unlock functionality only up to the level of the product generation of your desktop license, according to the information in your Steinberg ID. It’s not impossible, of course, but it’s a lot of hassle.

Instead we opted for a simpler approach: if you want permanent access to all the premium features of the iPad version, pay once, and as the desktop and iPad versions move forwards together, you will automatically get the new features of, say, Dorico 6 included in Dorico for iPad, even if you don’t update to Dorico 6 on the desktop.

Hello

Thank you for your quick, complete and personalized response

I understand the situation a little better, even if in absolute I still regret a bit this situation.

Thank you for the information of the permanent validity of the purchase for future updates on the iPad version. This actually makes it possible to make the bill a little more digestible in the long term.

Warmly

Yann Sevin

We do from time to time offer the Lifetime Unlock in-app purchase at a discount, so it might be worth waiting for a promotion. (You could use the monthly subscription in the meantime if you need those features now. The monthly subscription starts with a 7-day trial, and you can cancel any time during that week so you won’t be charged.)

Thanks for the tip :+1:t2:

Is there a discount offer for the iPad app lifetime license for those who just migrated from Finale?
