License for SX3

The point though is incorporating some kind of middleman that can speak to the protection code in old Cubase and the new licensing system.

Simply wiping your hands and cutting off access to 20+ years of Cubase based around an incompatibility in your new licensing scheme (that is in your control to modify) makes even less sense.

I’m pretty sure the smart engineers at Steinberg could rectify this with some kind of middleman software. And I doubt it would be a massive undertaking. I was hoping Steinberg could show a bit of goodwill at their legacy and with their customers on this.

That would be simply another point of failure, the licensing systems are fundamentally different.

No software company in the world offers a life long support for old products. This is not just Steinberg, it is the way the software World works.

Hi,

Same as the hardware world. No one can support old products forever.

A point of failure that hasn’t failed since it is currently in use since version 12.

I’m not asking for life long support for old products, such as bug fixes or compatibility with Operating Systems, but simply retaining access to previously purchased products. And I think if …illegitimate outlets… can offer such a feature, the company legitimately who owns and released the software, can offer access to the same software.

This is like firing someone from a job by telling them they need to work in a specific office they don’t have a key for. Sorry, since you didn’t perform your work in the office, you have failed your duties and are terminated.

I’m just asking for the new key to the door.
