Hello there and many thanks in advanced for the help…
Halion7 wont start with Dorico, Generic low latency driver have lost contact with analog out.
1). Recently I received an error message saying Halion(7) is not licensed or something, This program (Halion) was usually opened up with Dorico V but as of recently it is not no more. Halion 7 was an update to my previous Halion software while I was using Dorico 4…
2). As for the work flow I think perhaps Dorico had a work around and was getting the Piano sound from a within bank but something also have happened to the ASIO generic low latency driver as it will only detect the digital outputs of the audio device and will not allow me to change the latency buffer - leaving me with a rather large latency gap. If I want to reach the analog out
( to hear a sound ) I must use the Steinberg built in low latency driver but there to I can’t setup low latency buffer again - a latency gap.
Licenses
3). So I have opened the Steinberg activation manager and while before I could see all my licensed Steinberg programs, now I can only see 1 - that’s Dorico V.
4). I also understand that May 2025 will be the end of service for my e-licenser - which as of now contains all of my steinberg’s e-licenser licenses…
( cubase 11/ Dorico pro 3.5/ Halion 4/ Halion 5/ cubase 6.5) .
Under the “My Steinberg” licensing division - the only appearing license is of the Dorico v, Halion 7 doesn’t appear there nor does it appear in the
e-licenser, also my license for cubase 10.5 - doesn’t appear…
I can open Halion 7 but now I have to somehow reconnect it to Dorico and I am not sure how to do this…
I am especially concern about the licensing issue due to the end of service of the e-licenser and the lack of some the base licenses .
Thank you very much for your reply,I have also noticed that Halion is Attached to Dorico as a VST and I can reach it when pressing the E button under PLAY.
Yet - I also wonders… if anyone has experienced similar issues with licensing in the Seinberg Activation Manager…
Those who have mistakenly substituted the HALion Player for HALion Sonic in the past without owning a HALion license have gotten into trouble, especially if they have chosen the “Use best available” option in the preferences screen.
Steinberg Activation Manager can only show (and has only ever shown) Steinberg Licensing based licenses, i.e. Cubase 12 or later, Dorico 4 or later, etc.
We are working on ways to allow you to continue to buy updates to later versions of the software after the eLicenser server shutdown, but it will not be possible to do any kind of license maintenance for existing licenses after that.
Thanks very much for your reply and my apologies for not responding sooner as I didn’t see the blue umber under my letter name… Also sorry for all this writing especially since I know how all of you are so busy.
Just to say that after reading carefully Steinberg’s e-licenser documents and followed them - I actually did get a grace period for my Cubase 11 - so I upgraded successfully to Cubase 14 , all is well on that respect however:
after I have installed Cubase 14 ( or so I think that was the reason ) I was getting an error message from Dorico V saying:
“An essential component used by Dorico for playback has not been found. Please run Steinberg download Assistance and install the following : GROOVE AGENT SE 5 – CONTENT”.
So I have installed that feature from the Dorico’s section in the Download assistance but for no avail as the message keeps coming back. I have even tried to locate the path on my computer and insert it into Dorico under VST path but that didn’t help either.
That said - I am able to continue with my work flow with no problems… I am only using a piano sound for it…
I hope I wont have to erase all of Stenberg installations from my computer and reinstall it fresh… cause I do have other plugins… although truly I only use Dorico for now…
(*) I am very happy with Steinberg enabling the Cubase 11 grace period and thus the ability to change from e-licenser licensing to Steinberg’s licensing + upgrading us to Cubse 14… very generous’ Many many thanks.
As for Halion 7 , as I have mentioned earlier something strange have happened for Halion has always started with Dorico until recently and than I have started to get a message concerning a license issue , after that I didn’t see Halion loading with Dorico anymore but I wasn’t interrupted - the Piano sound was still there… Somehow I thought that Dorico V also comes with a Halion upgrade to 7 but as far as licensing concerns I only have a license for Halion 5 ( I stil l have my Halion V in the e-licenser… but it is not installed, Yet Halion 7 is functioning. no problems and when I press the E button in Dorico’s Play section- I get Halion 7… but it is not licensed to me… or is it? )
Thank you Derek for your reply although I didn’t understand it fully mostly probably because after all I didn’t use Halion even though I bought it in the past. I have written to Daniel @ Steinberg concerning the whole of this so I shouldn’t bother you. I’ll follow your example though.
