I bought a UR44 in 2016, and keep the drivers updated. I plan to switch from Windows 11 to Linux (Ubuntu Studio likely).
Can I use the UR44 with that OS? If so, is there anything I need to know specific to Ubuntu?

No response after 6 months, so I have to assume it won’t work on Linux.
In the meantime I decided not to convert this one machine to Linux, because there are too many other factors that need attention, making it unpredictable what will happen in a non-Windows environment.
I’m on Ubuntu 24.04.02 and I’m having issues with my UR44. There is no Linux driver for it and it works on some apps, but not on others. Audacity will not hear any sound from the UR44 period. I installed Ardour and it recognized the UR44, but there is no output. No matter what output I try, the Master bus will show input/output, but no sound through the UR44. Your assumption was spot on after 6 months. It’s dicey as to whether it will work. Mine does ok playing audio and video files, but for sound recording or production…forget it.
I’m switching to Ubuntu 24.04.2 on my laptop and have tried the UR44. It works both for playback and recording. I’ve been able to successfully record with microphones using the UR44 using Audacity. Playback goes without any problems, too.
Note: On the back of the UR44, there’s a small “CC Mode” switch, that must be turned on.
I switched to Ubuntu this weekend and I have to say the UR44 just works. No “CC Mode” needed, I just plugged it in and selected it as input and output device.
Disclaimer: I have yet to try recording stuff. I just used it for a discord call with a microphone on input 1 and the UR44 as the output. That worked well at least, no driver needed. As soon as i tried recording stuff i will come back to you guys, but that may still take a while.
