Dear all,
I noticed another small bug when entering rhythmic slices. When I double-click on the slices with the mouse and then click outside the box, the rhythmic figure extends out of nowhere. I don’t think that makes sense—am I misunderstanding something? → see video
Looks like a bug to me too. The developers will certainly want to try and reproduce it using your file, so I’d suggest to upload it here (or a reduced version that still shows the problem).
It actually happens every time you do it. Just open a new blank page and try it—you’ll see it.
Sorry, but I’m afraid that must be an ‘indefinite third person singular’ you, meaning ‘someone’, not ‘you specifically’, i.e. me.
I, specifically, never use slash notation in my music, so I would need to set up a project myself with (maybe) specific instruments (who knows if that’s important – I can’t see them well in the video), a time signature (apparently something special like 2+3+3+3/8?), using slash notation I’m not familiar with, and what not, to try and reproduce it. That would probably be a waste of time, not showing the problem at all. You say ‘just open a new blank page’. From what, how, which steps?
I don’t have time for that, my apologies.
If you provide us with a project that reliably does it with you, it’s easy to check whether it also occurs in other people’s Dorico. That’d rule out a lot of possible causes.
A bug can really only be fixed with a reproducible case, that is: a case where you (and here it means ‘we’, other users on this forum, and eventually, the developers too) can pinpoint exactly which steps are responsible for the unwanted result, by switching them on or off in your file, trying with varying instruments, time signatures, etc.
Thank you, Peter, for your answer. Sorry, I didn’t mean you specifically (that was probably a misunderstanding—English is not my first language).
Here is a simple Dorico file with a piano and a 4/4 time signature. If you want to try it out, just click on one of the slashes, and after the dialog window appears, click somewhere else. You will see that the slashes double themselves.
Little Bug, slash notation.dorico (487.0 KB)
When you double-click the slash you are opening the repeats popover (shift-R). If you don’t want to do anything there, just Esc out of it. But if you press enter, you will indeed add another slash region.
Indeed. I was wondering whether this function is intentional or if it is simply a bug. I find it bit irritating when clicking outside the dialog window, its applying the slashes. Plus I can not imagine any situation where you would like to have double slashes.
Agreed. But you might be wanting to add a different mark, at the same place, via the shift-R popover (DS, Fine, a repeat ending…)
