Load VST Instruments in Drum Machine Pads

I like the new drum track and drum machine, but I also have a lot of great drum VST instruments that I would like to use in combination with the drum machine.

Currently, I can create a MIDI track and route its output to both the Drum Machine and my VST drum plugins, but this comes with some limitations:

  • I have to manually map and remember which MIDI pitch corresponds to which drum sound on each plugin.
  • There are only 4 MIDI sends per track, which restricts how many instruments I can layer or route to.

It would be extremely useful if I could load VST instruments directly into the Drum Machine, just like samples. For each drum pad, Iā€™d love to be able to:

  • Assign a VST instrument as the sound source.
  • Optionally adjust the MIDI note (transpose or remap) before sending it to the VST.
  • Retain the visual and workflow benefits of the Pattern Event Editor while using my existing VST drum instruments
