Loading a Cubase template messes up the AXR4 routing configuration

Hi guys,

I work with Cubase Pro 14 and a Steinberg AXR4 interface.
I have set up the routing a certain way in both the AXR4 mixer as well as in Cubase. These configurations match.
Now, when I load a template in Cubase, the routing of the AXR4 mixer gets completely messed up. Suddenly my hardware compressor is routed to my PC out, my headphone amp to a different device etc.
Do you have any idea why this happens? I can’t find any mismatch in configuration.

What’s likely happening is that the Template got saved while the weird config was active. Try this:

  1. With your IO configured the way you prefer, save that as Preset
  2. Load the problem Template
  3. Apply the new Preset to the Template
  4. Use Save As Template… to (duh) save this revised Template
  5. Now when you use that Template to create a new Project the IO should be how you prefer
