Hello.
Sometimes, I am working on cubase and I need another instrument from kontakt.
I go to native access and I download/activate this new instrument.
Is there a way to reload kontakt on cubase so I can see the new instrument without restarting it?
The only solution I found is to restart Cubase… (and it can take some times).
Pretty sure not since Cubase scans the plug-ins as part of the startup sequence.
But thinking about it, seems like Cubase shouldn’t ever even know about a new Kontakt Library. Cubase knows about the Kontakt VSTi, but nothing about Kontakt’s libraries. Kontakt manages its own content independent from the host DAW. I think (not at all sure) Kontakt initializes its Libraries when a new instance is created. So maybe try that?
Exactly. It’s up to the VST to handle whatever data available. If we were talking about Komplete Kontrol, things are different, since it’s a wrapper for other VSTs, so if one installs a new VST, it will not find it until a restart of Cubase. But Kontakt libraries? It’s up to its own mechanism of scanning. Does it need a new really fresh (first start initialization) instance? Just another instance? I’m not sure too, I don’t use Kontakt on its own, and certainly don’t recall installing libs on the fly, though I do understand that this can be cool.
Thanks for your feedback.
I tried to download a new lib in native access, reload kontakt or start a new instance in my cubase session but the new plugin is not available…
I seems that a cubase restart is mandatory to reload Kontakt content…
