I updated from Dorico 5 to Dorico 6 and have no playback sound. Have tried clearing Audio Engine Cache and reset Audio Engine Data, and have all sound libraries installed as per Download manager’s recommendations. Should I have just one VST Sounds folder in Application Support/Steinberg/Content, because I also have folders called VST Sound - Keda Music, VST Sound - Sonic Atoms, VST Sound - Soundiron and VST Sound Updates?
Do I need to remove the Dorico Application and all content and reinstall?
Have you activated VST playback for the project? There is a “power on/off” icon at the top that lights up blue if playback is active. Also, if it is active, could you try to change/reset the playback template? It will usually reload the respective instruments/sound library.
Hi @nickbicat , please load one of the demo projects and then do from the menu Help > Create Diagnostic Report which will create a zip file on your desktop. Please attach that one to a reply here. From the logs and things I hopefully can see what the issue is with you.
Hi Nick, thanks for the data. Somehow HALion Sonic is not installed on your machine,
at least Dorico cannot find it, though it is supposed to be located at some predefined location.
Even if you say you’ve had installed it already, install it one more time.
Afterwards please send a new diagnostics. Thanks
at least the scanner detects now HALion Sonic, but still Dorico cannot load it somehow.
Therefore, please delete the Audio Engine cache data. In order to do so, open the Preferences dialog in Dorico, choose the VST Plug-ins tab and scroll all the way down. Push the button ‘Reset Audio Engine Data’ and restart Dorico.
Then open that project once again. If still no HALion Sonic gets loaded, go to the Play Mode and do from the menu Play > Playback Template. There choose the Auto template and apply and close. If still no HALion Sonic does get loaded, please send yet another diagnostics please. Thanks a lot
