Logic and HALion Sonic SE 3 and Dorico

Hello
I have bought Dorico

Can I use ‘HALion Sonic SE 3’ in Logic ?

I get a message : Application not registered:

Thanks

Cyril

Hi,

Yes you can. But first, you need to download the free Halion Sonic SE3 player from Steinberg and install that. When you have done that, you can use the player with the libraries that came with Dorico.

Kind regards,
Jeroen

Dorico currently ships with HALion Sonic SE 2 and not 3. Version 3 is available as a free download from the Steinberg website.
But you should also be able to use HALion Sonic SE 2 in Logic.

Hello

Thanks for your answers.
Why did I get the message : Application not registered:

Cyril

That message comes from Logic, or not?
If so, then ask Apple.

How about your Dorico licence, is that on the Soft eLicenser registered or do you have it on a dongle?
If on a dongle, is that one plugged in when you run Logic?

Hello Ulf

It does not look to be a Logic message.
I use the soft licenser
You do not need a dongle for Logic anymore

I’m not 100% sure about this but it used to be the case that Halion Sonic SE2 only works with Steinberg hosts.

So in the end you might need to update to Halion Sonic SE3 if you want to use it in Logic.

Hi Cyril, can you make a screenshot of the message and post here?

You have to download Halion Sonic SE 3 from here:

You’ll be emailed an activation code. Please note that the AU version isn’t stable under macOS 10.13 (High Sierra).

The content included with Cubase and Dorico is almost completely different from the full version of Halion Sonic 3, which is a paid product. HS3 features over 3000 presets which either use far newer samples or take advantage of Halion’s many different synth engines.

Hi Ulf
how can you insert a screen copy ?

This is the error message

**eLicenser Control Error
Application Halion Sonic SE 3 has caused the following error

Application not registered**

Together with the link to the HSSE3 download you should have received an activation code.
Did you register that code in the eLicenser Control Center?

Hello Ulf
Thank you for the code.

The ergonomy of this software is very good.
Is there is a way to setup the DFD like in Kontakt ?

Now with AU3 you can have more than 16 Midi channels
Is there is a plan to have the AU3 compatibility

Best
