Hi everyone,
I wish I could do that (see example) in Dorico. I can’t find the way to create a box.
You could take a look at this. More may be available via the search “eyeglass” at the top of this screen.
Thanks Derrek
As I see, it’s impossible to do this directly in Dorico. I hope this will be implemented in future updates.
Is that a frame with border? It’s been available for years (ok, we’re still waiting for a semantical solution, but hey, it’s there…)
It’s a Line with repeatable objects. The object is an SVG made in Affinity Designer that looks like below. So a white box with a dash.
The box is a double line with a terminal line.
Then just a text box with a border for the info.

Jesper, you’re a magician
Thank you!
Jesper
sorry for my mistake Jesele, it’s because of the automatic corrector.
I didn’t notice any mistake.

I need rest
Brilliant. I didn’t get the main problem wasn’t the box but what is following the box. Thank you for this workaround (although I don’t think I ever needed this type of notation)
Thanks Marc.

Hi Jesper,
I’m working on my piece using your brilliant idea.
However, I have two problems that I can’t seem to solve:
- the first concerns the box. Using the frame function is very easy to do, but there’s a problem; the frame is assigned to the page and not to the staff, which is a problem when I change even one nuance on another instrument, which slightly shifts all the staves and calls into question the positioning of the frame.
- The second concerns the solution you’ve given us. It works perfectly but I would have liked to keep the bar display. The only solution I’ve found is to position the dotted lines for each bar to avoid masking the bars.
Best regards
I am traveling so can’t help right now
Jesper
You didn’t use my box which is a line and follows the bar.
Hi Jesper, I could use your file, but I tried to study on my own ( I also have Affinity designer )
But erasing the lines with a white background makes it impossible to see the barlines, which is easy to do with Sibelius.
Hi @Laurent_Bomont. How could I create-use this box that, as I can see from your uploaded picture, is expandable in every direction.
I think it’s a Text frame. The problem with that is that it doesn’t follow the music. It’s stuck to a place on the page. If you use it then it should be when everything else is finished.
Jesper
Thank you @jesele but couldn’t we create something that follows the notes?
Or is there something in Dorico5 that I didn’t find, yet…
In addition, is there any way to make graphics of the winds fingering like the one below? I made this directly in Finale.
