I cannot set Musical Mode or write in the tempo for a loop.
In below picture you can see three loops in blue that I pulled in from Splice.
For the top two , I typed in the correct BPM in the Pool Window, then set them Musical Mode. They stretch with tempo, great. Works as it should.
But the third loop named Talkbox_016_G#m_114 some bug prevents its normal behavior.
The Pool window refuses to accept my BPM when i type it in, it reverses back to ‘???’
It doesn’t stretch with tempo, yet it displays a Musical Mode icon in the Audio Event.
However, the Musical Mode indicator at the info bar and in the Pool Window says it is not Musical Mode.
Everything about this Audio Event behaves as if it is not in Musical Mode and it refuses to accept Musical Mode.
I FOUND THE BUG!
I had previously used Melodyne 5.4.1.004 ARA on this Audio Event (the most recent version). I changed it back to “No Extension”. BUT ARA IS NOT 100% RELEASED.
The Audio Event has no ARA icon, and the info bar shows no ARA extension. But Cubase still thinks ARA is applied somehow.
I discovered this by dragging in the exact same wav file from the PC Windows browser, and immediately it showed an ARA icon and the info bar that said Melodyne.
I tried swapping different ARA extensions on/off, but Cubase refuse to release the Melodyne ARA for this Audio Event.
Other Audi Events in this project DID release Melodyne 100% after removing it, so it is ‘random’.
I have noticed the same issue with Syntheziser V ARA extension, it is not fully released, even though the Audio Event looks like it has nothing on it.
I encountered some strange bugs with ARA / Melodyne a few versions ago - like parts playing while muted and ghost parts playing and not being able to delete events… not sure if the the bugs are still around around but it may be a good idea to bounce any ARA modifications after they are done so you don’t see strange behaviour halfway through a project.
Nico, please read carefully what I posted above.
The Audio Event had Melodyne applied, then I removed the ARA, but Cubase did not release the ARA plugin. When I drag in the same file again, a wav file that is already in the Pool, Cubase sees it is already in the project. You can test yourself, Cubase knows what is in the pool if you drag in a file a second time. So Cubase remembered it had ARA applied to this file, despite that I had removed it, but since this is a bug, Cubase applied the ARA plugin on the very same file again. At this pont I have one event with ARA icon and the old event (same wav file) showing no ARA icon. I hope this makes it clear.
There is no magic ARA applied on this wav file ahead of time.
Yes, I did drag it onto the same track.
This problem appear with other ARA plugins as well. Cubes does not release the ARA properly for some reason.
