Loop Enhancements

I have a long list for this, but thought I will address 4 concerns for now

First of all please rename this back to Crossfade Looper and Loop Tone Equalizer.

  1. Make loop window same size as cross fade and post crossfade

  2. Bring “Apply Ok Cancel” Back

  3. Bug - Default window (on launch of Crossfade Looper within Active or on New File) has to be loop window and not crossfade and post crossfade. Reason - on opening new file, Crossfade Looper can open with crossfade or post crossfade tab.

  4. Transport Bar is incompatible with Crossfade Looper (only solution for this is to bring the old transport bar back).

  1. I don’t see what you mean. Please attach picture

  2. The last tab is reopened. This is not a bug.

  3. I don’t see what you mean.

Pasting a draft I created earlier -

The only feature that stands out and works better than what it used to be for the new Loop Tweaker in 13 is the scan/search time

Revert to Apply OK and Cancel workflow.

This is important because user can create a loop and decide to click on OK or revert back to old loop through Cancel which is not possible in the new loop tweaker.

Keep Loop Points Window as Default on launching Loop Tweaker (Not Last Opened Window)

This affects new files as they may be opened with previously used crossfade/post crossfade window, if user was on that tab. An option to make Crossfade and Post Crossfade Window persistent on an existing file may be better.

Fader for Aimed Correspondence, Search Accuracy, Length and Fade (Crossfade and Post Crossfade Tab).

Fader is important in Crossfade Looper, and maybe you can start creating faders for WL through this process.

Change name to Crossfade Looper and Loop Tone Equalizer

I see no reason for the names of these processes changed, since WL7. It was nice the way it used to be.

Tab/Shortcut to switch between Loop, Crossfade and Post Crossfade

It would be nice to have a tab option to switch between Loop, Crossfade and Post Crossfade Windows.

Move Copy Button Away from Apply OK and Cancel buttons

Copy button is not important compared to other functions of the Crossfade Looper and yes it may help some users, the Copy Button has to be moved elsewhere.

Larger Window for Loop Points Adjustment

Please make the Loop Window as large as the Crossfade and Post Crossfade Window

Transparent and Simple Arrow Pane to Navigate

Transparent Arrow Pane was better as it blended with the theme of the Process Window.

Transparent Navigation

Preset Menu on the Right Top tab after Post Crossfade as user can easily navigate to

WL6

OK used to close

WL 7

OK button changed to Close, Cancel Button Gone - Renamed to Loop Tweaker and Loop Tone Uniformizer

WL12

Close Button also gone.

Disable Marker Head Selection in Audio Editor

When using Loop Tweaker, the marker head selection misleads user as they can move the left marker head or the right marker head from the Loop Tweaker while one head remains selected.

Add Marker and Marker Pair Insert Option in a small floating toolbar.

Floating Transport Bar with Loop Modes

The Loop Tweaker is linked to the Transport Bar and the only Transport Bar design that went with the Loop Tweaker was the previous Floating Transport bars V6<<<.

For loop playback, there are three options Loop Selection, Loop Between Markers, Loop Entire File while in WL13 there is only a general Indication for Loop.

Cascading

For sample editing, cascade is also an indicator that you are completing your set of files. It used to be good when samples were like playing cards cascaded in sets of 9. Even though this can be known through project tool window etc. the feel, as a user, was completely different.

Areas of Conflict

Modular close option of WL13 can affect opening and closing Loop Tweaker using same short cut. One example - The Loop Tweaker can be closed only when mouse is clicked outside of the window.

As posted in earlier thread, bug - extra generic marker written to audio file at loop end.

As you can see the Loop Window in WL13 is smaller, while in 6, the Loop, Crossfade, and Post Crossfade are of same length and width.

Users do not loop a new file from the crossfading/post crossfading tab. Even for an active file, this is not the right workflow.

The Crossfade Looper has to close and open “with the loop adjustment window” every time it is opened within a file and for new file.

It is also an active process (It works in a way that you cannot close an audio file, when the process is launched). If you are planning to keep it open, this has to be relooked into working in a different way.
