Loopmash 2?

Does anyone know why Steinberg decided to get ride of their most unique sound design tool Loopmash 2?

This is by far the most interesting I’ve seen from Steinberg for sound design and even though I have never used it I look on in envy.
Is there a plan for 3 at all??

Loopmash has already been removed by Cubase 12 and as far as I know it was due to license reasons. It was not a Steinberg product, just licensed from somewhere else.

If you still have a Cubase 11 installation you can try to copy the VST3 over to Cubase 12 or 13 and try running it there. The files are here

  1. “C:\Program Files\Steinberg\Cubase 11\VST3\LoopMash_x64.vst3”
  2. “C:\Program Files\Steinberg\Cubase 11\pulseOSC_x64.dll”
  3. “C:\Program Files\Steinberg\Cubase 11\VST XMLs\Steinberg Media Technologies\LoopMash”

Thanks so much for that answer. What a shame. Looked like such a good unit for the tutorials. Seems foolish to let it go when we are already so limited when It comes to in house modulation driven sound design.
Fingers crossed someone with a dropbox is kind enough to share them…

On another note It seems like a cheap shortcut to take it out and leave the LoopMash content Library*
At the very least make a new content pack to replace it. Seems very lazy.

Thanks Juergen!

I can confirm that copying over the files makes Loopmash VSTi work in Cubase 12. At least from what I can tell, but I’ve never used Loopmash before.

FWIW I wrote a post about a similar question regarding LoopMash in context of Nuendo, but the situation is the same in Cubase and Nuendo.

Loopmash Fx on 12 Pro is stock and I absolutely love this plug in I have created some great results with it, sad to know it is not a thing anymore.

Question, does anyone know what is a very similar plug in like Loopmash FX or if not know anything better than Loopmash Fx???
