Lyric vertical spacing: reset to default?

I’m working on lyrics spacing for “O Holy Night”. My main concern right now is how to best get the vertical alignment to be consistent.

In the first and second system the third stanza’s vertical alignment is inconsistent: in the 1st system stanza three is too far down, and in the 2nd system it’s too far up. Looks to me as if the other systems have the default / proper vertical spacing between lyric lines.

Q. How can I reset defaults so that all three stanzas are evenly spaced vertically in all of the systems without it messing up the manual horizontal spacing (nudging of notes)?

Thanks!
Eric
Edit: P.S. I know I can select a line of lyrics and then use the little box on the lower left with Option + up or down arrow keys (on Mac) to manually move the lyrics baseline. But I’m not sure that I’ll be consistent, that why I wondered how to make them all be the same or snap to a grid or something. BTW, I am using v. 5.1.70.

You can reset the Lyrics from the Engrave Menu with Lyric Offset > Reset Layout.

This does keep your manual adjustments intact.

Although I don’t have your text font, I’m not sure why you’ve adjusted “miu” and “mi” in bar 6**. Select the syllable, and press Enter to activate the lyric popover. Then press Space, and the syllable will be left-aligned, because it’s on a tied note.

Alternatively, you can set the alignment – left, centre, right – in the Properties panel, which will be more consistent.

** Well, it would be bar 6, but you’ve renumbered bar 2 as bar 1 !!

@benwiggy,

Thank you! That did it. I did not know that option was there.
