Lyrics and Vertical Space Collision at the Last System of a Page

Hello,

Is there a way to automatically prevent collisions between the lyrics and the page margin at the last system of a page?

Increase the value of the bottom music frame margin in Layout Options > Page Setup a bit.

As a person who “speaks” figured bass fluently I recommend also to decrease the vertical gaps between the figures for quicker recognizability. In the h-moll Messe there are even figures with 4 levels.

To add to @Vadian’s remarks: there is no automatic function, because the principle is that the top staff and the bottom staff on a page always remain at the same vertical position (when you use justification, for the bottom one). That position is determined by the music frame margins: for the bottom staff, it’s the distance between the bottom staff line and the bottom of the frame, and for the top staff, it’s the distance between the top staff line and the top of the frame — regardless of any content (text or music) that may appear above or below those lines.

There have already been requests here for this rule not to apply (like for your case, or for the opposite one: a top staff with a lot of text above it), but for now I don’t think it’s possible automatically. You can increase the margin as Vadian suggests, or use manual staff spacing, or create page templates with different frames and insert them where needed.

Agreed. Might it even be here that the OP has put the figures in separate verses for the different lines?

In this thread the OP stated that he found this notation on a website.

I see. Probably that’s a thing when using dedicated figured bass fonts in Finale (and other programs). in my Finale days I used a custom chord library instead.
