Lyrics Need to Be In Midi Export

Ah, okay, thanks. (Hadn’t thought about using “middleman” software. Guess I’ll have to get a MuseScore account…)

I don’t think you need an account to use Musescore.

I also bought into Cantai on a whim, out of my small budget reserved for “cool stuff”. I paid ridiculously little money for a lifetime unlimited license, and therefore have very little to be entitled about…
I don’t really need the app for my day-to-day, but it would be cool to re-render some old choir arrangements and demos I used to make with Wordbuilder and the like.
That’s why I have decided to wait with Cantai until final release as a VST and no more workarounds, but I do follow the Discord channel.
I’m convinced that when Dorico 6 comes out, it will have complete, direct support for the stuff Cantai needs to be the gamechanger it surely will be. But today’s beta is not that day…

I can’t stand Discord – I used it briefly for SFZ ‘chat’; but I can’t see how you get onto the Cantai server. The link gives me “No Text Channels”. You seem to need an invite. (And I hate the way everything is just one big scroll.)

Anyway, I asked Richard about the beta, and he says it’s finished; but that something should be on the site later today.

It would be great if Dorico could prioritize adding lyrics to the MIDI export @dspreadbury, especially now that the web-renderer of Cantai has been released. I know eventually Cantai will work directly within Dorico, but I imagine that for the time-being Dorico wouldn’t want it’s users to NEED to use MuseScore in order for Cantai to work.

My route: Export MusicXML from Dorico and import it to UtaFormatix, export MIDI from UtaFormatix and upload the MIDI to Cantai Web Renderer. No MuseScore in my case, that is. I find this way just a little bit more comfortable.

I think Richard is considering pivoting to musicxml for the cantai web renderer uploads. If that is possible in the short-term, I will welcome it.

Where can I download the trial version of “cantai”? Please let me know.

There is no trial version which acts as a VST plugin currently, this is planned for Dorico (coming into Musescore soon apparently.)

Did you find the Cantai site?
Are you aware of our other thread here?

This shows the process:

Summary: Dorico xml to Musescore or UtaFormatix, midi export to Cantai render page, download the audio files.

Cantai are working on using musicXML for lyrics as import for rendering (as well as midi), but after it is integrated as a VST, it will no longer be as necessary.

Hi, I have recently tried Dorico 5 Elements (trial version) having used Sibelius for some years, and found the same problem as reported above that MIdi files will not export to Synth V with the lyrics in Dorico as they do in Sibelius. Has Dorico 6 fixed this problem?

Yes.
