Lyrics on tied notes extend beyond barline

When I have a lyric on the last beat of a bar,on a note that is tied over, the lyric extends beyond the bar line. The fix is easy enough,
setting the word to center justified, but it means I have to constantly scan the score for this problem. It seems like something that the
software should handle automatically.

This has come up quite a bit in the past, and there is presently no automatic solution for it. For now, you do need to fix it manually.
