Mac Snow Leopard vs Lion OS

I believe my PC laptop has seen its best days so I’m thinking about switching over to an iMac (2.5GHz quad-core Intel Core i5).

Some dealers offer it with Snow Leopard and some others with Lion.
Does one work better with Cubase 6?

I’m not familiar with Mac but everything I read indicates running music applications is much easier. This computer will only be used to run Cubase and my external keyboards/modules, mixer etc.

Thanks for any inputThanks,
Beto

I’m running Snow Leopard on a MacBook Pro with 8GB ram with no problems at all. Try both out and see which interface you prefer as Lion is more touch-pad friendly in line with iPads & iPhones…not appealing to me personally.

Aloha b,

As Sustudio said:

However for DAW users I have found nothing in Lion
(Core Audio or Core MIDI) that is an advantage over Snow Leopard.

AAMOF some of the new Lion ‘saving’ techniques are ‘weird’ to say the least.

Don’t get me wrong.
Lion can be rock steady with Cubase but so is/was Snow Leopard.

Also if you have any third party gear, (hard or software) check first with
the manufacturer re compatibility with Lion.

Some 3rd party stuff which worked fine with SL may not play so well with Lion.
(My Steinberg/Yamaha n12 for example)

Thanks for the replies

Snow Leopard, C 6.0.5 , 32 bit and everything is solid. I’m waiting for things to settle down a bit before going Lion/64 bit.
