Mackie mcu for cubase and totalmix

Hi there. I’m planning my new studio setup.
There will be cubase, a RME fireface and a Mackie MCU.
Will it be possible to control totalmix and cubase with the MCU depending on which program is running in focus or do I change my cubase mix when I control totalmix?

I’m not sure if you can control totalmix with the MCU. (I dont use totalmix)
I only control Cubase (6.5 at the moment) with the MCU.
