Mackie MCU triggers midi instruments

Love the MCU, but it still has one major problem.

When a midi track is in the monitored state (Cubase 7.07, WIN 7) , whenever i hit the transport controls(or many other controls) on the MCU, notes are triggered on the Virtual instrument, in addition to the correct Control surface command. Evidently the midi from the MCU is being sent to the monitored instrument as well as the Mackie interface.

Has anyone seen this?

Any ideas how to fix it?

Make sure you have the MIDI port that the Mackie is on, is disabled (Inactive) from the “All Inputs” option in the Device Setup
