I have been [unsuccessfully] trying to figure out how to reset all of my mixer track volumes to zero using a Macro, Key Command &/or the Logical Editor. I am using large orchestral templates, so it takes some time to do this manually. I want to do this without changing (or resetting) my gains and plug-ins; hence, the Mixer Reset function is a hammer when I need a scalpel. Any ideas or help would be greatly appreciated.
You could use the Quick Link function in the Mixer to do that. Or am I missing something?
To elaborate on @Reco29’s answer… (who beat me to it)
You can open the mixer, select all tracks and hit the Q-Link button and then the Abs(solute) button and control-click on a fader. All will be set to 0
You can use the PLE to select all tracks and activate Q-link
Yeah I understand how to do it in multiple steps.
- PLE to select all
- Go to Mixer and select Qlink
- Select Abs
- Change one of the tracks to zero (changes all to zero)
- Deselect Abs
- Deselect Qlink
- Deselect all tracks via PLE or mouse
It is still 7 steps, I was trying to convert it to one Key Command (via PLE & Macro) so I could put on my Stream Deck or MetaGrid. I can probably get it down to 3 steps…but would be nice if someone has figured out a one step model
Please have another look at the ple I posted. Maybe you didn’t see my edit.
(And the reverse)
Yes I did, and thank you Steve…it is definitely fewer steps which is way better, the missing item(s) that I think we would need exposed to full automate the workflow completely are:
- Command to turn on [Toggle] Abs (after Q-Link PLE- Thank you again)
- Command to set [Selected Track] Volume to Zero
Then run your PLE to turn Q-Link off and deselect…
I can work with this operation which is better than what I had before
- Button1: Run PLE to Q-Link All (I also enable and unhide all my tracks with this PLE)
2) Manual Step: Mouse click Abs
*3) Manual Step: click volume *
4) Manual Step: “0”
5) Manual Step: click Abs off - Push Button2: PLE to de-Q-link (I also disable all my empty tracks and hide them with this PLE)
I was just hoping someone might know how to automate manual steps 2 to 5 above so I can move it to a single button or key command (Lazy engineer in me who hates any type of repetition I can avoid).
Thanks for the help
Maybe if you place a volume automation point at the beginning of all the tracks (eg in the project template if you work that way) you could have some other options for this.
