Made with Dorico: Holiday music for Saxophones

I wrote 4 new holiday de-rrangements for saxophones and rhythm section last week for the Holiday VandoJam, sponsored by my reed and mouthpiece manufacturer Vandoren. All written in 2 days with Dorico. I didn’t get any recordings, but a few people uploaded some videos. Here are a couple of clips if holiday music for saxes is your thing, enjoy!

Wonderful Christmastime by Paul McCartney

Anyway, I’ve written about 50 of these things by now and there’s finally some discussion of recording a few of them so we’ll see if any are out by Xmas 2026 …

Terrific!
Love the big Bari sound (my favorite sax). If Tchaikovsy only knew how well coffe and jazz go together -and Paul McCartney would be gob-smacked

Thanks for sharing!

:musical_notes: This is great stuff, man! I’m letting this play as I work, really good music. (I hate that Instagram auto-pauses video if I leave the tab in my browser; fortunately, the audio link doesn’t have that problem!)

That’s Gary Smulyan, one of the greatest Bari players on the planet! Of course, the fact that Julius was sitting right in front of him while recording skewed the balance just a little bit, LOL!

Thanks! Glad you are enjoying it!
