Major usability issues with Lyrics and Chord Track in VST Live 3

Hi!

I’ve been working on setting up several songs in VST Live 3 and have run into some fundamental usability issues with both the Lyrics and Chord Track features. I’m posting this both to confirm my understanding and hopefully highlight areas for improvement.

When entering lyrics, I’m expecting something like this:

  • I input a block

  • Set it to, say, 8 bars

  • Input a whole verse

  • VST Live plays the lyrics evenly distributed over those 8 bars

  • If I need to make small adjustments I can do that within the text block

  • In the Tracks window I can easily move and copy/paste choruses and so on

This is not what I’m getting at all. I can’t really do anything on the timeline in the Tracks window, and the lyrics editing window is so frustrating to use that I honestly feel like punching my screen. Why cant I edit the text inside the block? What’s the point of making the block 8 bars if it still blasts through all 4 lines of text in the first one?

Then regarding the chords…

All I can find for editing chords is the chord editing window. Which is… something else.

I can only input one chord at a time. If I click on a position, it always inserts a C for some reason. I can then change that by clicking chord letters at the bottom. If I instead use the keyboard to input, say, an A, that works — but if I then click the “minor” button to change it to an “Am”, it reverts back to C for some reason.

It feels like whoever designed this really wants me to click myself to death. Multiple mouse clicks for each chord entry, throughout the entire song.

And best of all — no way to copy/paste chord sections?? I can’t even copy a bar. With the right click copy-function it only copies one chord in that bar, not the whole bar. Why?

Please tell me I’m doing something wrong here, because right now I honestly feel like I’m going crazy.

(Sorry for the rant, hoping this turns out to be user error - and if so, I’m sorry)

also, copy paste of chords and lyrics……. who knows where it is stored, because a folder for a song does not contain it, and it is not shown in the song file list.
Wasting loads of time trying to make this work

Thank you for your feedback. We understand your message as a request for missing features, and we agree with your points. However, implementing and properly designing these features will take some time.

All the best,
Michael

… what’s not working?

… correct. Lyrics and Chords are missing in the “Song Media Files…”. We’ll add it,
Michael

Wow, thank you. look forward to it.
It is impossible to keep files together, in sort of a project folder, without it.
