I must say that I find the “Manual staff visibility” system very difficult to work on very large scores.
For example, after Dorico hides unneeded staves automatically (which is what I want), I need to show some staves so that each pair of facing pages have the same staves on each page (not my choice, house rules).
But when in facing pages (at the two pages zoom level), it is almost impossible to read the staff names so you need to zoom in large scores.
And when you use the Manual staff visibility window, it takes control so that you cannot scroll your zoomed page up and down in the background to see what you have to show/hide in order to set the proper choice in the Manual staff visibility window. I keep using a piece of paper to notate what I have to do…
Feature request :
Could the Manual staff visibility window be a non modal window and be docked in the right pane ?
I would love a revamp of the “manual show/hide staff” to have a more compact UI of the staffs list anchored in the right pane in stead of a modal window.
I would also love to have a scope for this function instead of the current reset system (or an option to affect only the current frame ?)
And finally, could the “manual staff visibility” window give visual feedback to which staves are already showing in the selected frame ?
But in the end, my most wanted feature would be to have Dorico taking care of facing pages staff visibility automatically !
So I guess that’s another feature request.
You are welcome to request what you want. This is a discussion board, and if other solutions to the problem you present are available, other users of the software are–or should be–entitled to suggest them.
On a 32" screen, presumably a slightly reduced view of a tabloid screen should still be intelligible.
Oh but you can suggest eveything you want.
But the issue I’m relating is not only about to the size of the screen !
nor my proposals, because their aim is to suggest a generic generic solution that could benefit all users, including the ones working on laptops !
So get a bigger screen means : things should stay the way they are. perdiod.
Are we in a sect here ?
A comment on the proposals would have been more interesting and frankly, I would much prefer reading the team answers.

Not a solution but a suggestion:
could you maybe temporarily increase the Staff Labels size in Library/Paragraph Styles (to something as 15pt Absolute or something like that). Then with just a click you can reset it to the default. I would lock the layout in Engrave mode first, to avoid changing in the casting-off between music frames):
I have an additional requirement for staff visability. Before you set a system to invisible, you should urgently remember to first enter the re-visibility at the point when the instrument plays again. If you forget to do this, you can quickly lose entire instruments to invisibility unnoticed. It would be VERY useful to have an option to automatically show systems again as soon as a note is played.
And one more thing: With the automatic staff visibility in the layout options, it would be useful if you could define that an instrument is only hidden after a definable number of at least X bars of rest. At the moment this is not possible, which often leads to a very rapid reduction of staves, even though the instruments are only silent for a short time.
