Hi everyone,
I’m trying to recreate a bar number engraving style I’ve seen in parts published by ‘Breitkopf & Härtel’:
So far the closest I’ve managed to get to recreating this so far is by:
-
Setting a negative value for Minimum distance from staff in Layout Options (×-1.5 of the space size to align vertically in the middle of the staff)
-
Adjusting First line indent in Paragraph Styles (also negative) to push the number left into the margin
What I’d like is right-aligned bar numbers, so that when the numbers increase from 1 to 2 digits (or more), they stay neatly aligned without manual X-axis nudging. Unfortunately, when I set right-alignment, the numbers end up pressed tightly against the system, with the indent value having no affect. I’ve found center-alignment achieves the most optimal results.
For context, I created a new Paragraph Style (via New from Selection from ‘Bar Numbers (Parts)’) so as not to affect multi-bar rests, and then assigned this style via Layout Options: Steinberg
Please see the attached project here and in particular the Alto Flute layout. (The ‘Piccolo 1’ layout uses a brace, which introduces separate offset issues, so the Alto Flute gives a clearer example.) The relevant paragraph style is named ‘Bar Numbers (parts) [marginal]’.
