So the question is, once you have your mix done in Dolby Atmos 7.1.4, how do you master it to ensure it doesn’t lose its properties? Considering that you use hardware, i.e., external equipment, what would be the configuration?
? nobody?
Would also be interested in the answer. Usually, I put up my master chain on the stereo bus. Maybe the equivalent would be on the “Renderer 7.1.4” bus? I could imagine that this would mess up things but it is worth a try.
I’m no expert - but I don’t think it’s really practical to master 7.14 atmos streams with external hardware… I would have thought you’d use something like this: https://professionalsupport.dolby.com/s/article/Dolby-Atmos-Production-Tools-Downloads?language=en_US - in the kind of place that would have all of the right speakers and setup.
I had the same question. There are lots of videos showing you how to make ATMOS mixes, but only one covered the loudness issue of keeping it at -18, and none said anything about mastering.
I’ve been using my mixed stems to make some ATMOS mixes with the binaural setting, but I’m making unmastered mixes-- and I can’t check them unless I have a full ATMOS system.
One Pro Tools Engineer has a video where he put a compressor and limiter on each channel to keep everything loud.
But it feels like they don’t want you to master the ATMOS?
Feel like I’m just guessing.
