Yes, I read, but what I mean to clarify is that it doesn’t refer to tonality in any way really.
iow, a piece can be in any mode, and the root key is simply an arbitrary value one can set as a starting point to facilitate global transposition.
Whereas the Score Editor provides key signatures and works with music theory for notation, and the Chord track provides some context for tonality, which is only based on the chord symbols, ie, there’s no global setting for key signatures.
The reason this info is worth posting is to clarify this feature request.
In my view the missing feature is a key signature track.
In the mean time users have to manually add metadata, or use the existing metadata in mediabay and wherever else it applies.
There may be a misunderstanding here, as this had been established much, much earlier on. In fact with @mlib very first 3 comments. It is accepted that the root project key was an arbitrary reference, as you have repeated.
As mentioned previously, this was then about the relationship between MediaBay audio and it’s tagging. It wasn’t tonality, it is actually far simpler than that— it was about the relationship between MediaBay tags [major | minor] and the audio, finally possibly with some reference to the project you are working in.
I think herein lies the confusion. That is what I have been referring to recently all along, the MadiaBay tagging.
Automatic tagging would be great, but it wasn’t what was asked for. It was the major<>minor tagging. @mlib kindly offered a potential workaround, it may help a bit.
