Mediabay issues

In Cubase 14.0.20.240, when I use MediaBay in the right-side zone along with the level meter, VSTi level meter, and Control Room, the search function works just fine. But when I open MediaBay with the F5 shortcut, the search doesn’t seem to work. Has anyone else run into this? How did you solve it?

Hey @darkness_ten ,
did you set the searchlist to 100.000 items instead of 10.000:

I just tried it, but it still didn’t work.

Have you checked which folder one of the missing samples is located in, and whether this folder is also scanned in the Mediabay (F5)? This can be identified by the small checkbox next to the directory tree.

And please note the Mediabay settings:

Hope it helps.

I checked my sample library, but the folder icon didn’t turn white; instead, it turned orange. When I open the folder, all the files display correctly. However, I can only successfully search within the folder that contains the files. Unlike searching from the right sidebar, where I can select the main “sample” folder and find files across all its subfolders, this method doesn’t work in F5 mediabay.

You can also rebuild the entire MediaBay database; you need to rename the MediaBay: database _mediabay3.db.
This will be recreated the next time you restart Cubase.

Located in:
C:\Users\ %USER% \AppData\Local\Steinberg\Steinberg MediaBay Server

If problems occur, rename the old file back

The color of the folder indicates its availability:

Red indicates that a folder is currently being scanned.

White indicates that all subfolders have been scanned.

Did you set the Filetype to ALL MEDIA TYPES in the TOP (Above 3) ?

where is on macos?

Oh sorry man, iam using Windows …

Note: Since Mac OS X 10.7 (Lion), the Library folder has been hidden! Here’s how to access it: Click “Go To” in the Mac OS X menu bar. If you hold down the [Alt] key while the menu is open, the “Library” entry will appear.

Yes i set the filetype to all media types, but only the files within the selected folder are displayed, not the files inside subfolders. However, when searching in the right sidebar, it can search for files within the selected folder and even for files inside its subfolders.

Sorry, I hope a Mac user can help you, anything else would just be guesswork from me

Oh, I just restarted Cubase, and it seems like it can now scan the files inside the subfolders that I manually scanned. However, folders that haven’t turned white still don’t work. But in the right sidebar, I can search the entire contents of a folder without manually scanning, whereas in the F5 MediaBay, it’s too cumbersome…

No worries, bro. I really appreciate your help!

Sometimes the MediaBay database crashes, but if you reinstall it, it usually works again… I hope a Mac user will chime in here who can help you.

Alright, I’ll give reinstalling a try! Thank you so much!

I dont know how fast your hdd / sdd is, but it takes some time from orange / red to white …

When Mediabay is stuck on orange use ‘rescan disk’ (right-click) on that folder or a higher folder and wait until it completes.
If it still won’t complete try reboot and then load cubase and do just that.
