Melodyne ARA - ALL edit data lost on re-opening project 🤯

Melodyne 5 Studio
I’ve been using the ARA extension of Melodyne for some months now (after the previous grief of losing all edit Data when making offline processing permanent) I’ve now hit a problem where Nuendo has suddenly ‘lost’ all the edit data made in Melodyne ARA :exploding_head::poop::rage:
I made an incremental save of the project Ctrl+Alt+S and then closed the project and Quit Nuendo. Everything closed without any crash issues etc.
The following day I opened the same project to find ALL the edits I made in Melodyne are gone.

I seem to remember this being an old bug?!? When saving with a new file name (Save As) or incremental save Melodyne data got trashed.

I’ve tried going back to earlier saves/backups but it make zero difference, the Melodyne extension just shows the waveform part but with none of the changes I made.

I’ve lost hours and hours of work.

Until this is sorted I’ll have to resort to inserting a Melodyne plugin on the track instead, which is a huge step backwards as the ARA workflow is so much better… when it works!
ara

Yes - unfortunately this happens with all ARA plugins. Also with Synchroarts Repitch etc…
So far I have always rendered the changes. It doesn’t work otherwise.

By the way, I used to work with Cakewalk SONAR. At Cakewalk, ARA and Melodyne worked perfectly 8 years ago. So it’s not Melodyne’s fault.

It’s also been a problem in Pro Tools. The workflow there is to commit/render after editing, or run the risk of your edits disappearing when you open the project again later.

ARA works extremely well in Studio One, but can be (has been) problematic in other DAW’s.

EDIT: it’s also advisable to render ARA work in Studio One to save resources. Having loads of live ARA edits running on multiple tracks will bog down the project.
