When I change colors and click ok nothing changes

Thank you for trying to help but it is that video that made me want to change my meter appearance but I go through the instructions ( by the way in cubase 12 there isn’t a master or channel selection) I change colors and like the YouTube video I check ok but appearance does not change.

Can you post a screenshot of your meter settings in the Preferences?
Just to be sure, if you are expecting the mixer channels to change to custom colours, make sure you are editing the correct item. It’s the one labelled +3dB Digital (Channel meter). I’ve seen others make the mistake of trying to edit the wrong one.
