Metric modulation over bar line

I’ve searched using a few different terms and can’t seem to find a topic about this:

Can metric modulations be positioned above bar lines without having to enter them as system text and dragging? NB I also want separate tempo indications at beginning of bar.

Eg I want a tempo indication at/above bar 8 as usual, with a small metric modulation above the bar line between bars 7-8.

If you want both a tempo equation and a new tempo marking at the same position, you’ll have to fake one of them using a text item.

Is it possible to make this more functional, so as to be able to indicate what the metric modulation is, and the respective new tempo?

Not at the moment, no, but I know that further improvements in this area in future would be welcomed.
