Metronome/Click issues

Hello, I just worked a little more with Vst live 3.0.63.263 and noticed that in the metronome menu it can only be either preroll or count in active. In version 3.0.60, which is still installed on my MacBook Pro, I can activate it simultaneously. I was very happy that the function I had already wanted here in the forum was finally there. But now it’s gone again? Please reactivate it, as I have now changed all songs with a pre‑roll in play mode.

We’re still working on more metro options that allow every possible combination. Should be available with the next version, could not quite make it for today, sorry.

Not quite sure why you need count-in when preroll is active though. Check Song/Song Metronome Options, if “Metronome when” is activated for preroll (and possibly deactivated for recording), there should be no difference?

I just tried again with version 3.0.60. If I have preroll enabled and, for example, set it to 2 beats, the click starts at -0001. 1. 1, with version .63 the click remains silent.

I’m sorry about and feeling completely sorry to say: I got completely lost with this and even could’t get in track trying all… but got more confused :frowning:

Let me say my impression how I feel with:
I have now a sub-menu-panel that makes - me, personally - no sense… I could do all exceptt one before too.

The all except was to have preroll(precount/count-in) && silenceMETRO after for good.
That I can do by clicking PRECOUNT (upper-icon-row) and then click PREROLL but that setting gets lost at every song-change.

Could someone help me to understand the new sub-menu-panel or it’s usage or difference between the buttons in icon-bar, or how to solve then to have
METRO: 1-2-3-4 then silence with all these option boxes wishing the two places reg. metro?

I appreciate very much, really got lost, sorry, ma fault, but want to understand / solve.

I can’t tell you directly your question, but what I can say is, that these settings are song related, so it is normal, that it will change with song-change to the settings of the new selected song.

I start to understand (extra menu distinguishing settings for PLAY / REC modes)
while I have the idea why @musicullum couldn’t find the reason of confusion:
@musicullum seems, if you click PRECOUNT then PREROLL
these two keeps to be activated in PLAY mote, and METRO gets muted after elapsed PRECOUNT-lenght (xBAR/xBeat) while PLAYING. But this order-exclusive combination get’s lost at SongChanges.

But if clicking PREROLL then PRECOUNT, the two setting simply toggle

I also didn’t understood these options at first try
But now it’s clear for me -
Metronome when? (or when you hear the click)
In Playing mode click while playback and while preroll.
In Record mode click while recording and while preroll, also count-in.

Strange is that these options are active only if buttons (count-in, preroll, precount) are set to do that. And Song Metronome options window stays the same for all songs while buttons are set for each song individually. @musicullum, is that by design?

So, if I need the four clicks before playback and record and silent metronome while playing and recording, I set all checkboxes to ON, but buttons - count in, preroll, precount.

We just didn’t find the time yet to complete the mission.

The idea is that there will be switches for preroll and count-in, likewise for play and record seperately, and each with their own durations. So you can say “with record, have 2 bars preroll and start count-in 1 bar before drop-in”.

As said before, at the time beeing, preroll and “Precount” are mutually exclusive, and “Precount” explicitly means “count-in only, nothing else” (as it was requested). You guys mange to have both activated which confuses all of you, and the machine

With the new Layer Send Option at Layer activation there is now a possibility to have a permanent Click even transport is not startet. But @musicullum if you are round the preroll/count-in-stuff anyways it would be great to have a Permanent Click like the the Tempo Indicator in the Time Display independent if transport is started or not :slightly_smiling_face:

BTW the Tempo Indicator is not in sync with the Tempo of the Song … it seems a little bit slower to me.

@Kai_Schwirzke feel free to move this post in any separate or other thread as you like - I just didn’t want to confuse musicullum to start this anywhere else

will check to complete that, but there are multiple threads again, see here. This slows down development…

I hope you don‘t mind that I bump this so it’s not forgotten.

Especially fixing the out-of-sync-Tempo-Indicator :grimacing: … and if it afterwards could make a click sound as well that would be „fixed and featured“ :winking_face_with_tongue: in one go.

Not quite sure what you mean by out of sync, but we improved the beat indicator in Time Display for the next version. It will blink when transport is started, and we changed it to toggle, means it changing on/off per beat which is less nerveous, and better to get into the groove. Let us know how that works out for you.

I recognized this when I tested to have a audible click when transport is not started.

If you hear the click and look at the Tempo Indicater then you see (after a while) that they drift apart … the Tempo Indicator is slightly slower.

Do you refer to version 3.0.67 already?
