If ping does not work: Are both devices on the same wireless network? Windows (especially 11) will change to a network with internet access if it can. Solution is to remove the keys from any other networks you use in windows, also turn off “always connect” for all networks apart from the one you are using with the iPad.
If ping does not work: Check the IP addresses on both devices - are they on the same network schema (e.g. 192.168.1.x where the first 3 number are the same and x is unique to the device)
Turn off the Windows firewall temporarily. If that works then allow VL through the firewall.
Is the Bonjour service running on Windows? It also has to be allowed through the firewall - Mods uses it to locate VL.
If you also have a wired connection in Windows and it is not being used for the iPad network - unplug it.
That’s not quite true, VST Live does not use Bonjour.
But it uses a similar tech, so UDP broadcasts need to be enabled in both cases, which is pretty much always true unless some stupid so called “security software” blocks it.
We recommend to not use such tools, because the onboard OS protection is all sufficient, unless you explicitly use dangerous tools or visit “dark” locations.
… and also check the iPhone Security Settings for the “VST Live Mods” application. Open “Settings”, find “VST Live Mods” and verify that “Local Network” is enabled.
“…doesn’t use Bonjour…” - that’s just weird, the laptop is purely for VL so I made a bad assumption - I wonder where that came from if not from VL, but I know where it’s going.
