The ludicrous situation of not having some kind of international agreement regarding note names continues. In Cubase and Yamaha (and possibly more) Middle C is C3 but other companies designate it as C4. This really is total bol*ocks and extremely confusing.
Someone pointed out on a previous thread that middle C is always midi note number 60 but this is the only consistency it seems.
Please would it be possible to offer us the option to change the designation within the program?
Please, Steinberg, add this option!
I’m currently working on vocal arrangements and constantly switching between Cubase and Melodyne. Melodyne uses C4 for middle C, while Cubase uses C3.
I understand that both conventions are technically valid, but having a simple preference to choose between C3 and C4 would make life so much easier.
It would be great to have something like:
Middle C octave: [ C3 / C4 ]
Such a small option would avoid having to mentally transpose every single note name by one octave.
+1 for this feature!
And honestly, this would be a HUGE quality-of-life improvement for anyone doing vocal transcription or arranging!
Spectralayers has different octave notation than cubase’s midi… seems absurd
