Midi channels not filtering properly

I have a BeatStep Pro connected via usb to Cubase Elements (OS X) and two external synths hooked up with midi to usb interfaces. When I have two different sequences playing on the BSP (on separate midi channels) and try to record the midi data into Cubase, it records the data from both tracks at once. In Cubase, I have the midi input set for one channel, but it doesn’t seem to matter. I’m almost certain it’s not the BSP because it works fine if I chain the synths before getting to the computer. Am I missing something here? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Hi and welcome,

The MIDI Channel you set in Cubase track is not MIDI Input Channel, but MIDI Output Channel. Cubase always records on all MIDI Channels. You can either use MIDI > Dissolve MIDI Parts function after recording, or you can use MIDI Input Transformer to filter dedicated MIDI Channel.
